The Brimfield Township Board of Trustees approved tentative hires of three entry-level firefighters after the fire chief presented names and described the selection process.
The chief told trustees that three candidates โ MacKay People, Mason Wetzel and Jack Storm โ received the top scores through written, physical and interview testing and have accepted tentative job offers conditioned on a physical, drug screening and background checks. The chief said he hopes the new hires will start about Aug. 1 (payroll around Aug. 4) and attend Fire Academy beginning Aug. 25.
Trustees voted by roll call to accept the three names: Trustee Nick Coia, Yes; Trustee Mike, Yes; Trustee Sue, Yes.
The chief and trustees clarified the hires are conditional on completion of pre-employment requirements and required paperwork. No salaries, wage scales, or hiring ordinances were presented during the meeting; trustees noted the position had been previously authorized and were acting to approve the selected candidates.
The board recorded the conditional approvals and instructed staff to continue normal pre-employment checks and onboarding for the three candidates.
