Planning commission forwards unified development plan to county commission for review

The Maury County Regional Planning Commission voted May 27 to forward a draft Unified Development Plan to the Maury County Commission for its review and consideration.
The chair described the multi-year effort to produce the draft zoning and development document and noted the planning commission has met frequently to refine the proposed ordinance. He said the county commission could accept, amend, remand or reject the draft after review.
The planning commission approved submitting the draft and planned public presentations: a presentation at the June planning meeting (informational only) and additional public presentations before the county commission’s July meeting, where the county commission will hold a public hearing and consider action.
Commissioners asked about scheduling and the potential budget implications; a county commissioner in the audience asked when the matter would reach the county commission and was told a presentation would occur in June and the county public hearing would be in July. The planning commission’s vote was recorded as a positive motion to forward the document for county-level review.
