Planning commission recommends Edge Wastewater LLC to county commission for wastewater provider designation

The Maury County Regional Planning Commission voted on May 27 to forward a positive recommendation to the Maury County Commission for Edge Wastewater LLC’s request to become a wastewater provider in the county.

Matt Nix, who identified himself as president of Edge Wastewater LLC, told the commission the firm designs, builds and operates wastewater treatment plants and is registered with the Tennessee Public Utilities Commission. Nix said, “We are making a request to become a wastewater provider in Maury County,” and asked the commission to recommend the request to the next level.

Commissioners asked several questions about the company’s experience and track record. One commissioner noted that the company was newly formed and asked, “How long have you been in the business?” Nix replied that Edge was started on Jan. 29, 2025, and said the company had no failure rate to report because it did not have operating systems in service yet. He added the company had four systems under design and one entering construction.

After discussion, a commissioner moved for a positive recommendation to the county commission. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The chair recorded the outcome as “Motion carries.”

The commission’s action was limited to a recommendation; final designation and any oversight responsibilities remain with the Maury County Commission and state regulators. Commissioners and staff did not set conditions during the recorded motion; the recommendation will be forwarded for county-level consideration.
