Burkett described community involvement, his experience as senior estimator at LJ Pearson Construction and interest in promoting clear permitting, mixed‑use development and sustainable growth. “I seek to be a community member that's vested,” Burkett said during his interview.
Staff later reported that a different applicant’s submission had been received within the proper timeframe but was not processed due to an internal error. City staff recommended the council hold an additional interview on June 9 for the late‑processed applicant and delay the appointment until the regular council meeting on June 16 so all timely applicants can be considered. Council agreed to that schedule.
