County creates shared law-enforcement capital improvements fund after review of long-standing contract

“We found out there was actually a contract between the city and the county on the law center and been there since 2000,” a supervisor said, adding the separate capital-improvements board will oversee the fund. “So this capital improvement plan is each entity will put money into that account. So we have the large issues like the air conditioners and stuff. We will have a fund already set up to draw that money out of.”
The speaker said the original sharing formula was “like, 50¢ a square foot of shared property,” a rate set around 2000 that the speaker said no longer reflects current costs and that the rate would be raised. The resolution names a separate board to manage the fund; the transcript records that county staff (Kelly) and representatives from the sheriff’s office and the police chief serve on that board.
Board members moved and seconded the item and approved the resolution by voice vote. The transcript does not record a roll-call tally or the precise new contribution percentage.
