Balch Springs EDC approves $110,000 for Godberry Park sidewalk and trail

The Balch Springs Community and Economic Development Corporation (Type B) on May 28 approved funding not to exceed $110,000 to construct a 5‑foot sidewalk/trail at Godberry Park, a project staff said will implement part of the parks master plan.
Director Helen Shelby moved to approve the funding; Director Wanda Adams seconded. Staff said the city solicited three bids and selected a local company, CCGMG, as the lowest qualified bidder. The project covers approximately 2,200 linear feet of trail that will form a loop inside the park and eventually connect to the city’s broader trail network.
Staff said $75,000 for the project had been budgeted in the CIP; the board approved using the remaining amount from the community development parks line item to reach the $110,000 total. Board members who serve on the parks board said nearby residents had asked for upgrades and that the trail would be an affordable amenity to address those concerns.
The board voted unanimously to award the work and asked staff to proceed with contracting and scheduling.
