Council members discussed multiple projects on the 2026 list — including park improvements, an entrance road for a new park, parking lot work, ballfield lighting, skate park planning and sidewalk and drainage projects — and raised funding questions and prioritization.
Several council members urged staff to examine whether adding extra baseball fields could be moved from 2027 into the FY26 program to capture potential revenue from tournaments and hotels; staff agreed to provide a cost breakdown (field construction, lighting, and staging costs) and to check fund balances including park dedication and the RDC. Council emphasized trade-offs between regional-sports investments and other park priorities such as soccer fields and skate park facilities.
No final appropriation was made during the workshop; staff said the CIP list would be returned as a formal resolution during the budget process and that project funding would be considered during FY26 budget adoption.
