The board motioned to open a two-week application window to solicit candidates for the remaining seat, with applications due to the county clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. on June 10. The Inland Port committee will interview shortlisted candidates (two or three) and bring recommendations back to the full board for consideration; the board emphasized a mix of open applications and targeted recruitment across the county to find a qualified candidate. The reappointments and the application-window motion each passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
The board noted the original resolution and state statute that established the inland port set staggered terms and require appointees to be at-large Lincoln County residents of majority age; the board will follow that guidance in filling the vacancy.
