The Town of Lakeville Parks Commission approved permits for two upcoming summer events: a Loon Pond Horseshoe Club tournament scheduled for June 7 and the Austin Strong Charity Soccer Tournament. The horseshoe tournament was approved with a caveat that games may need to pause if an outdoor wedding ceremony is taking place nearby.
A commissioner explained the horseshoe club expects a minimum of 24 participants and that parking and noise were discussed; the commission agreed there is sufficient parking and asked staff to notify the club about possible pauses for ceremonies. The motion to accept the horseshoe tournament application carried.
For the Austin Strong Charity Soccer Tournament, the commission noted the event has run previously without incident and that organizers donate proceeds to charity. Commissioners voted to accept the application and to waive the per-player tournament fee for the charity event for this year. The commission has waived this fee for the tournament in prior years as well.
Staff will notify organizers of approvals and any caveats regarding ceremony interruptions and logistics.
