The Appleton Public Library Board of Trustees on May 20 approved the library—ill register for April 2025, a budget amendment for May 2025, nominating-committee appointments and adopted the City of Appleton social media policy.
The actions were taken by voice vote during the board meeting called to order by Board President Marty Mann. Board members approved the list of bills and payments described in the meeting packet, a budget amendment and the slate of nominating-committee appointments. The board also voted to adopt the City of Appleton social media policy, which trustees said had been rewritten at the city level and reviewed by city communications staff and the city attorney.
Board staff explained the bill register is the multi-page list of vendor payments and descriptions of the individual expenditures, including material purchases that appear under the materials-management section. Staff noted that finance is still finalizing import of original appropriation amounts for the year while the city completes its audit; until that import is completed the cash-flow report first-column "original appropriation" shows zero.
Trustees asked a procedural question about a listing that appeared as a credit from a vendor labeled in the packet as "Arb session, Inc." Staff said they would follow up to confirm the vendor detail and noted the line in the packet was a credit.
On the social media policy, staff described the document as a broader, higher-level rewrite overseen by the mayor's communications office and coordinated with city communications staff and the city attorney. Board members asked whether the policy applied to individuals who engage with city-maintained social-media channels; staff confirmed the policy covers those interactions and that a subsequent, staff-focused phase would be released later addressing employee behavior.
The board took each vote by voice; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript.
