Planning board approves annexation, zoning for two airport parcels on Langley Avenue

The City of Pensacola Planning Board on June 10 recommended approval of a zoning and future land‑use map amendment for two parcels at the 2400 block of Langley Avenue that the city recently annexed for Pensacola International Airport. Planning staff told the board the parcels were annexed by City Council on April 24 and May 8 and now require city map designations.

Planning staff recommended designating the properties with a “airport” future land‑use category and placing them in an airport‑restricted zoning district to match adjacent airport property and allow airport operations. Staff said city departments had reviewed services and reported no objections to providing utilities or other municipal services to the parcels.

The parcels together are “a little under half an acre,” according to staff, and are contiguous with existing airport property. Board members asked whether residences adjoined the parcels; staff said there are no residences on the annexed lots and that nearby gray‑shaded parcels are county property. A planning board member said the annexation will make airport property and operations more orderly because the city now owns the parcels.

The board approved the map amendments without discussion. The planning board vote was recorded as unanimous. The annexation itself was previously acted on by City Council; the current action on June 10 was to set the appropriate city future‑land‑use and zoning designations following that annexation.

No public commenters addressed the Langley Avenue item during the meeting.
