She said 181 preschoolers recently graduated and 28 early-college students graduated; 23 of the early-college graduates also completed an associate degree through Davidson‑Davie Community College (DDCC). Haines credited staff coordination, volunteers and a local business, Seventh Dimension, which contributed funds to clear student lunch debt and to assist families.
Haines described a local multi‑week transition from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus for the district student‑information system. She said Davie County piloted state-integrated transportation data work, with transportation staff helping ensure the district’s Infinite Campus data matched the state transportation system; the state sought the district’s guidance because of its strong data practices.
Regarding facilities, Haines gave a tentative timeline for the advanced manufacturing lab project: construction bids to go out July 1, bid openings on August 17, contractor selection by September and a target to have classes organized for a February start if the schedule holds. She also said Davie High’s practice field is undergoing major repairs, including new sod and top dressing; the project requires at least three weeks of recovery before full use and the district plans contingencies for summer workouts.
Haines reported attendance: a month‑7 PMR (percentage of membership reporting) of 94.7%, the strongest month‑7 rate since before COVID, and month‑8 PMR at 94.71%. She reminded the board that end‑of‑course tests (EOCs) and end‑of‑grade tests (EOGs) occur on differing school schedules within state testing windows and encouraged parents to support students with rest and nutrition during test days.
Haines announced personnel changes: Valerie Feazer will move from director of accountability and student information into the principalship at William Ellis Middle School when Ms. Morrison retires July 1; Eric (last name not specified) in transportation was recognized for his role in the Infinite Campus transition. Haines also introduced Dr. Heath Belcher, the incoming superintendent who will be sworn in July 1 and who has been touring schools prior to starting the position.
