JPS reviews several partnership agreements including Junior League teacher grants, nutrition program and pharmacy services

Jackson Public Schools administration presented information items reviewing several community partnerships and service agreements.
The administration asked the board to review an agreement with the Junior League of Jackson for a districtwide teacher mini-grant program and the I Read More with My Buddy reading tutorial program at McWillie Elementary. Board members had no questions on those items during the presentation.
The administration also reviewed agreements with two Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapters to provide a nutrition program at two elementary schools (Oak Forest and Wilkins). Administration staff explained the selection and outreach process for the “power pack” program: slots are limited by the sorority’s funding and will target scholars identified by school teams and parents as having unmet weekend or holiday nutritional needs. Staff noted flyers will be translated for English‑language learners and that families can indicate interest via school communication channels.
The board heard a review of an agreement with Dogtown Pharmacy and the continuation of an established agreement with Northtown Pharmacy, which provides immunizations, flu shots, COVID‑19 screening and other vaccine services for scholars and staff. Administration noted metrics during the contractual period: 658 COVID-19 vaccinations, 94 flu vaccinations and 70 Tdap vaccinations administered (figures presented by staff as part of the report).
These items were presented as information for board review; trustees asked clarifying questions primarily about translation of materials and selection processes for the nutritional program.
