The administration said mentors will provide academic study sessions, social and emotional learning, family engagement workshops and college tours. Staff clarified that the program is funded by private grant dollars and requires no district operating funds.
Trustees asked for references and evidence of the program’s track record. One trustee noted the administration had not completed formal reference checks and requested the district obtain external references and additional background on the organization before bringing the item back for board approval. The administration agreed to provide references and supplementary information to the board before the June 17 meeting.
