The Hardin County 911 center answered 4,118 calls in April and dispatched ambulance service 1,355 times, the county’s emergency communications manager reported May 27. The monthly activity report, presented by Mike Leo, breaks down call volume by agency, fire responses by department and transfers to secondary dispatch sites.
Leo told the Fiscal Court that the center answered 6,117 administrative calls in April and handled 2,450 calls categorized as prisoner transports, attempted-service or traffic-stop types. The report showed 653 calls transferred to the Elizabethtown Police Department and 64 calls transferred to the State Police. Fire responses were led by Elizabethtown at 34.3% of runs for the month, with Radcliffe accounting for 18%.
Why it matters: The monthly metrics measure public-safety demand across the county and help elected officials and emergency managers allocate staffing, apparatus and interagency support.
Leo said the dispatch center will begin compiling quarterly data on text-to-911 usage as the service gains traction. He also noted the presentation included a breakdown of calls for service by agency: CMS (32.9%), Radcliffe (25.5%) and the sheriff’s office (21%).
The court had no questions beyond brief clarifications, and the item moved on with thanks to Leo. The minutes show the court will continue to develop reporting on text-to-911 volumes as data become available.
