Kate Fall and enrollment staff detailed school-by-school changes: Aberdeen Elementary was down about 25 students, Pinehurst Elementary was up 32, Southern Pines was down 39, New Century Middle was up 61, and West Pine Middle was down 56. Staff said Community Learning Center and Connect Academy show larger variances because of their programmatic designs and student movement.
Fall explained that kindergarten cohorts particularly fluctuate year to year and that the district relies on three-year averages for staffing projections in those grades.
What happens next: staff will use the Day-20 figures to inform teacher allotments and staffing decisions and will continue regular membership reporting at subsequent 20-day intervals.
