The City Commission approved a minor site plan amendment for the Walmart store at 7900 West McNabb Road to construct an approximately 4,400‑square‑foot online pickup area behind the garden center.
Consultants told the commission the expansion uses existing impervious area and does not increase the store’s gross square footage; it reorganizes part of the rear parking and adds 14 dedicated pickup parking spaces. Site engineering drawings show added wayfinding signage, refreshed landscaping, façade paint accents and a new light pole to improve nighttime visibility in the pickup zone.
Planning staff said the Walmart site currently exceeds minimum parking requirements (the consultant reported 818 existing parking spaces vs a required 729) and confirmed the site plan amendment would not reduce the overall compliance with parking or ADA space requirements. The City Commission approved the amendment on a roll call vote.
Consultants said the proposal separates general pharmacy and prescription pickup from broader online grocery and merchandise pickup, improving circulation and reducing customer conflicts at the store entrance. Staff added that the amendment would require construction permits and inspections, and any signage changes would follow sign‑code review.
