Pingree Grove formally swears in Patrol Officer Maher Ayad

The Village of Pingree Grove on Oct. 6 held a swearing-in ceremony for Patrol Officer Maher Ayad. Village officials reported that the police commission approved Ayad’s hiring to fill a vacancy and that Ayad graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in August 2024.
According to the department, Ayad applied for the full-time position in July 2025 and has begun a 16-week field-training program. Because the board of police commissioners were not available for the ceremony, the village clerk administered the oath of office at the meeting.
No formal board vote was recorded at the meeting for the swearing-in; the police commission’s earlier approval of the hire was announced and the oath was administered at the municipal meeting.
