The three options presented were: not renewing the charter; relocating the charter program to an elementary district campus (for example, a site such as Comstock) and maintaining the existing grades; or expanding the charter to include additional grades (potentially into secondary grades) which would require authorizing the charter on the secondary district and addressing broader program and facilities implications.
Staff noted the charter petition expires June 30 and recommended early outreach to the charter community and Rincon Valley Unified School District to determine whether the charter can remain where it is. If not, staff suggested potential sites and emphasized that any change would need community support and a clear facilities plan. Board members requested that staff schedule community engagement and said they wanted options presented so the charter community could craft proposals for renewal.
