Construction on Riverview junior high and new Murray High 'exploded out of the ground,' district facilities director says

Director Taggart told the Murray School District Board of Education on Oct. 2 that construction on the new Murray High School and the Riverview junior high is progressing on schedule.
At the high school, Taggart said slab-on-grade work and underground electrical and plumbing were complete and steel columns were being erected to carry beams for the second floor. Taggart described the construction sequence: steel erection, then pouring a concrete floor over the structural steel.
At the Riverview junior high, Taggart said the tilt-up panels for the auditorium had been completed in a short, concentrated effort the prior week and that tilt-up for the gym is scheduled for Nov. 10, though the poured panels must cure for about a month before they are erected. Masonry work continues in the office area.
Taggart cautioned that visitors might see piles of broken concrete near the sites; crews build temporary slabs to form tilt-up walls and then remove them as the project moves to the next phase.
Board members praised the engineering and construction teams for advanced conduit, masonry and tilt-up work and said the projects appear to be on schedule.
No formal action was taken; Taggart said the district looks "very, very optimistic" about schedule progress.
