Council authorizes purchase of two service trucks for wastewater and water divisions; new total $133,842.38

Klamath Falls — The Klamath Falls City Council authorized the city manager to execute documents to purchase two Ford F-250 Supercab service trucks for the wastewater and water divisions, with a combined purchase price of $133,842.38, following staff explanation of a change in available inventory.

Water/Wastewater Division staff reported that, during procurement, one vehicle on the original quote was sold by the dealer. Staff located a substitute vehicle that met the request for quote but was a 2025 model rather than the originally quoted 2024 model; staff said 2024 models had larger rebates. The change raised the combined price from the original quote to a new total of $133,842.38.

Water Manager Robbie West (title in transcript: water manager) told council the cost increase would be split between the two divisions and that the purchase remained within each division’s budgeted amounts. The council asked whether the trucks were gas or diesel; staff said the vehicles are gas, noting prior diesel trucks had operational issues in the city’s stop-and-go service patterns.

The council motion authorized the city manager to execute necessary documents for the wastewater and water divisions to purchase a 01/2024 Ford F-250 Supercab and a 01/2025 Ford F-250 Supercab service truck from Kendall Ford of Meridian for the combined amount of $133,842.38. A councilor moved the authorization and the council approved it by voice vote.

Staff offered to answer further questions about outfitting; council did not request further action beyond the authorization to purchase.
