Public infrastructure update: AMP board seat retained; South Main Street work to continue through mid-November

Public Infrastructure Director reported to council that Bowling Green retained its board seat on the AMP (American Municipal Power) Board of Trustees and provided an update on South Main Street construction.
The director said Bowling Green retained its AMP Board seat in the recent election; the city’s representation on that service-group board will continue for another three years. He and Jim O'Neil plan to attend the AMP annual conference in Columbus the following week.
On South Main Street, the director updated council on construction status: the concrete base in the curb lanes has been completed and the shared-use path on the west side of the street has been paved. Drive approaches are being replaced and work behind the curbs will continue through the month. Around an Oct. 1 timeframe, crews are expected to open the curb lanes and pave them with asphalt while closing the inside lanes to complete concrete base repairs; final paving, striping and cleanup are expected afterward. He said the current completion date for the project is around mid-November and that the goal is to restore normal traffic operations before the end of the year.
