The Muscogee County School Board on Aug. 18 approved an administrative appointment, accepted a conciliation agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and adopted the local board’s FY26 training plan, the board announced during its regularly scheduled meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Lewis recommended the appointment of Courtney Holmes as director of the Woodall program. "Motion by Miss Chambers, second by Mr. Cantrell," the clerk recorded before the board conducted a hand vote; board members later confirmed the item passed. After the vote, Courtney Holmes addressed the board: "I'm super excited to be here, and I just wanna say thank you so very much for the opportunity. And I'm looking forward to working with the students and the families here in Muskogee County," Holmes said.
The board next approved a conciliation agreement with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The superintendent presented the agreement and the board approved it following a motion by Ms. Frey and a second by Ms. Chambers; the motion carried.
The board also adopted the FY26 training plan for the local board of education after a motion by Miss Chambers and a second by Mr. Cantrell. Board members and staff said they had discussed the training items in a prior work session.
The monthly consent agenda — described by board members as routine operational and financial items — passed on a motion by Miss Chambers and a second by Miss Frey.
Before adjourning, the board approved a motion to move into an executive session to discuss a legal matter and a personnel matter. The motion was made by Miss Chambers and seconded by Miss Tillery and carried by the board.
