Northside recognizes leadership academy graduates, plans districtwide "Decision of Respect" signing; PTA reports 20,562 members

Trustees recognized graduates from Northside ISD's 2024–25 Northside Leadership Academy and announced the district's fourteenth annual "Decision of Respect" signing day on Oct. 3, a districtwide anti-bullying and climate initiative.
Deputy Superintendent Dr. Faye Su presented 34 Northside Leadership Academy (NLA) graduates for board recognition and described NLA as a year-long program that focuses on core leadership competencies for campus and department leadership. The board invited graduates to the dais for congratulations and certificates.
The district also asked trustees to join staff in signing the Decision of Respect declaration for Oct. 3; the initiative directs campuses to implement classroom lessons and counselor-led activities to promote a respectful school climate and anti-bullying supports for K–12 students.
Later in the meeting Candy Baumann, president of the Northside Council of PTAs, reported that the council represents 117 local PTAs and about 20,562 members across the district. Baumann described PTA activities including volunteer hours, scholarship programs for graduating seniors, family-engagement programming and training for local PTA leaders.
Trustees thanked PTA leaders and district staff and noted several upcoming community events, including the Northside Educational Foundation activities, campus recognitions and the district health-insurance open-enrollment period.
