Zion police report: lake rescue swimmers trained and joint response teams active

Zion Police Chief Justin Street reported at the July 15 council meeting that the city’s lake-rescue readiness has advanced this season. Chief Street said the watercraft and rescue-swimmer equipment purchased jointly with neighboring Beach Park/Winter Park are in service and the department’s rescue-swimmer team has been called out several times already.
Chief Street also noted joint training exercises with neighboring public-safety teams and said the department hopes the teams are never needed but will be ready if called. He encouraged residents to follow the department’s Facebook page for updates on training and operations.
No formal council action was requested; the remarks were presented as an operational update during departmental reports.
