Zion City Council approves license, paving contracts and proclamations; several routine items passed

Zion City Council on July 15 approved a set of routine and project-specific measures including a license agreement to allow temporary parking by Dryers Auto Service on city-owned property, two public-works contract awards, approval of bills and minutes and a proclamation for a late commissioner.

The council voted to authorize the mayor to execute a license agreement between Dryers Auto Service and the city for temporary parking on city-owned property. City staff said the agreement reflects two updates from a 2024 version: it allows assignment to a successor owner with the city’s written consent and it acknowledges a 0.25-foot encroachment by the licensee for title purposes. Council members awarded the 2025 HMA (hot-mix asphalt) patching program to Chicagoland Paving Incorporated of Lake Zurich, Illinois, for $196,800. Staff said funding for the project is included in the fiscal year 2026 MFT (motor fuel tax) fund and that bid tabulations will be posted on the city website. The council also awarded a contract for police department parking-lot improvements and expansion to Chicagoland Paving for $87,500.
