Trumbull County transit will receive $436,162 in Federal Transit Administration 5310 grant funds, Trumbull County transit administrator Mike Sal announced during public comment at the commissioners’ meeting on July 2.
Mike Sal said this year’s award is about $100,000 less than the county received previously, in part because multiple providers—some from neighboring Mahoning County—requested vehicles from the same funding pool. He said the grant selection was competitive and that staff will send a contract from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) via DocuSign in the coming weeks. Sal noted the grant fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.
Sal told the commissioners he would send the contract to them by email for execution once it arrives and that the county will proceed when ODOT finalizes the award documents. The announcement came during the public-comment portion of the meeting and was presented as information rather than an agenda item requiring board action.
