Trumbull County commissioners adopt resolution to renew 2-mill levy for children’s services

The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners on July 2 adopted a resolution to renew a tax levy in excess of the 10-mill limitation to support children’s services, at a rate not exceeding 2 mills per $1 of taxable value for five years beginning in 2026 and first due in calendar year 2027. The resolution was certified to the Trumbull County Auditor for statutorily required information.
The resolution is a renewal, and commissioners said it does not raise the current tax rate. Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the measure and to ask the clerk to forward the resolution to the county auditor for certification under the Ohio Revised Code provisions cited in the resolution.
The board discussed the levy’s role in funding child welfare services locally and emphasized that the levy is an existing funding source for county children’s services; commissioners urged residents to consider supporting the renewal when it appears on the ballot. No additional tax rate was proposed as part of the resolution.
The motion to adopt the resolution passed with all three commissioners voting in favor. The board directed the clerk to certify the resolution and request the county auditor provide the information described in the cited Ohio Revised Code sections so the levy can be placed before voters.
