Gardiner council sends LD 1829 compliance review to ordinance committee

Code enforcement officer Chris McNeil said the city had already completed edits based on a prior bill, LD 2003, and that LD 1829 makes additional changes requiring more work. "It makes, I'd say, even more changes to the land use ordinance, changing minimum lot size, road frontage density, and the like. It goes into effect in September," McNeil said.
Councilors asked for a concise bulleted summary of the statute’s requirements to guide committee work. No timetable or state-provided compliance deadlines were offered by staff, and McNeil said the legislature had not provided implementation timelines or financial assistance details. Councilors agreed to refer LD 1829 to the ordinance review committee immediately so the city can begin planning revisions.
