Councilmember Hanson raised an editorial change replacing "his/her" with a gender-neutral alternative for consistency across city ordinances; councilmembers agreed that ordinance language should be standardized. Councilmember Espino moved to adopt the ordinance amendment as drafted and amended for the language preference; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote.
Council staff said special hunting permits are uncommon in Eagan, with "one or two" requests annually, and that the amended ordinance clarifies possession requirements and safety-related restrictions for any permitted hunting activity. No public comments were offered during the hearing.
The ordinance was adopted as amended at the June 17 meeting; staff will incorporate the language preference into the city's ordinance code and, as needed, communicate the change to parties who request special hunting permits.
