Special counsel agreement: The board approved a contract to retain outside counsel to serve as special counsel to the Evansville Building Commission to perform extraordinary legal services on a contractor‑licensing matter. The contract included rates presented in the meeting: $200 per hour for attorney services, $75 per hour for paralegal services, and routine out‑of‑pocket expenses except travel, food, beverage and lodging unless approved by the city. Staff said the firm will represent the building commission because the city has a conflict and named a former building commission attorney as the planned special counsel representative.
Downtown economic improvement district contract: The board approved a $25,000 contract to continue the agreement between the city and the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District, Inc. for collaborative downtown growth and development work; staff said this is the same amount as the prior year.
Event barricades and closures: The board approved barricade and road‑closure requests previously cleared by the Board of Public Safety, including a beer‑festival fundraiser on North Tenth Avenue and a community event for North Haven General Baptist Church on Maxwell Avenue. Purchasing and safety staff confirmed paperwork and certificates of insurance were pending or in order as required.
Administrative approvals: The board approved opening sealed proposals and bids for fuel solicitations (see separate coverage), approved bills and payroll, and adjourned.
