Scheff said the home would prioritize referrals from House of Bread and Peace but would also serve other women in crisis. Echo Housing was presented as a partner for providing wraparound services and management.
The program will restrict occupancy to households at or below 80 percent AMI and set rents at 30 percent of monthly gross income, not to exceed $450 per month as stated in the application. Scheff said the JB Scheff Foundation will contribute $25,000 toward the project and has pending or planned applications to private foundations and corporate donors; several board members and the presenter discussed timelines for those applications.
Motion and vote: The committee approved a motion to reserve $200,000 for Mina’s Place, contingent on the JB Scheff Foundation securing the remaining project funding. The motion was made by Melissa Stinson and seconded by Ruth Metzger; the motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
