City Manager Gretchen told the Pelham City Council on July 21 that the public engagement process for the amphitheater reAMP project launched with strong early participation and that an in-person workshop would begin at 5:30 p.m. the following evening.
"We have over... 484 responses already," Gretchen said, providing a breakdown of respondents by category during her presentation. She described the in-person workshop as beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the first 20 minutes devoted to an overview of the property, project process and instructions for participants. "So it's important to get there at 05:30 if you can," she said.
Gretchen warned the audience that the workshop is not a campaign event: "it is not going to be a campaign event," and said the city would not permit booths or tables or materials being handed out on city property. She added that anyone wanting to set up on private property (for example, the adjacent parking lot) would need permission from Live Nation.
A member of the public, Roberto Rodriguez, urged the council to use the reAMP process to make the site a destination and mentioned a petition for pickleball facilities. He told the council he had already collected roughly 500 signatures and urged the city to pursue amenities that will attract visitors and economic activity.
City announcements at the meeting listed two public workshops for the reAMP project: Tuesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 24, both from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex banquet hall. A public hearing on related rezoning is scheduled for Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
What to expect at the workshop - 5:30 p.m.: overview presentation and meet-the-team segment. - Instructions will be given for how attendees can provide input and take the survey in person; staff asked that people who already completed the online survey not retake it. - No campaign materials, booths or tables will be allowed on city property; private-property setups would require permission from Live Nation.
Provenance: City Manager Gretchen introduced the outreach numbers and event logistics; public speaker Roberto Rodriguez referenced destination-oriented uses and a petition for pickleball.
The city urged residents to check the Facebook event or the city's event page to help staff plan attendance.
