Votes at a glance: Lansdale council approves pensions, pools, paving and multiple resolutions

LANSDALE, Pa. — Lansdale Borough Council on Aug. 20 approved a slate of routine financial reports, contracts and resolutions, including the borough’s minimum municipal obligation for police pensions, a trails paving contract aided by a $250,000 grant, and authorization to advertise two new borough code chapters.

Council voted to approve the treasurer’s report for July and the check warrant for Aug. 20 by voice vote. Council also approved July business meeting minutes.

The council adopted Resolution 25‑17 appointing a liaison to Berkheimer, the borough’s duly appointed local tax collector, for the purpose of sharing confidential tax information for official purposes. Council then adopted Resolution 25‑18 appointing delegates to the required tax collection committee (backup identified Chris Shannon as delegate and John Ernst as first alternate).

Council adopted Resolution 25‑19 naming the borough manager as the chief administrative officer for the police and non‑uniformed police pension plans and accepted the 2026 minimum municipal obligation (MMO) for the police pension plan, calculated at $1,317,006.

A change order for the electric department’s main substation — Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $8,570.81 to add a differential and voltage relay — was approved. Council also authorized participation in American Municipal Power’s mutual aid program by authorizing advertisement of a mutual‑aid agreement with American Municipal Power, Inc.

Contracts and capital projects approved: - Trails paving: Council awarded the 2025 trails paving contract to J & S Paving and Excavating Corp. for $309,735 (backup cites $309,000 and $735). Land‑use and code items: Council granted a conditional waiver of land development to VV821, LLC and Vellicity Venture Partners, LLC for property at 821 West Pete Street. Council authorized the borough solicitor to prepare and the borough manager to advertise ordinances to create a borough code chapter for an unoccupied property registry and a chapter for a property foreclosure registry.

Administrative and technology items approved included authorization for the borough manager to execute a VoIP services contract change from Comcast Business Edge to ETNT Services and consolidation of borough locations to a single account, per solicitor review.
