Business manager reports steady general fund start; high school addition and CTE ventilation work continue

Business Manager Kelly Christopherson told the board the district’s general fund collections and expenditures are tracking close to last year’s pace after the first month of the fiscal year and provided an update on several construction and facilities projects.

Christopherson said the district had collected $1,642,000 in general fund revenue (about 6% of budgeted revenue) and expended $1,431,000 (about 5% of budgeted expenditures), comparable to the same point the prior year. He described progress on the high school addition — doors and door frames are being installed to enclose the building; interior framing and site concrete work continue — and noted the Tiger Stadium scoreboard is installed and powered. The middle school boilers are installed and connections nearly complete; the middle school roof replacement is ongoing and proceeding section by section. The high school roof is planned after the middle school roof is finished. Christopherson said asbestos-containing soundproofing in the band and choir rooms has been removed, and new drywall and finishes are being installed. Ventilation and minor adjustments remain to be completed in the CTE building.

A board member asked whether advertising agreements covered wrestling; Christopherson said advertising is sold by venue (video boards at Huron Arena and Tiger Stadium) and not by specific sport.
