Pensacola CEA orders daily fines to commence for multiple properties; one case continued

At its July 1 hearing, the City of Pensacola Code Enforcement Authority ordered previously assessed fines to begin for multiple properties and continued one case to a July 15 hearing date because of a clerical error.
The magistrate found the following: for case CE252376 (3935 Potosi Road) the property remained in violation of Pensacola Municipal Ordinance 14-4-3 (nuisance) and the magistrate ordered previously assessed daily fines of $25 per day to commence on July 1, 2025. Kevin Smith, Code Enforcement Officer, presented photographs and the June 17 order setting a June 30 compliance date.
For case CE251140 (6220 Keating Road, owner listed as Potential Church Incorporated), Code Enforcement Officer Kevin Smith found violations of IPMC sections 304.1, 304.2, 304.6, 304.7, 304.13 and section 308.1 (accumulation of rubbish or garbage). The magistrate ordered the previously-authorized $50-per-day fines to begin on July 1, 2025.
Case CE252430 (3209 North Guillemard Street, owner Michael Shapiro) was found to be in violation of municipal ordinances for excessive growth of weeds (municipal ordinance 4-3-18 and 11-4-72). Jason Hendricks, Code Enforcement Officer, testified the property remained overgrown; the magistrate ordered $25-per-day fines to commence July 15, 2025 if the property is not brought into compliance by July 14, 2025, and assessed court costs of $200.
Case CE252779 (106 Altamonte Road) was presented by Code Enforcement Specialist Tom Lucia after a sanitation department complaint that the property lacked active sanitation service. The magistrate found notice was properly provided, ordered $200 in court costs and daily fines of $25 per day to begin July 15, 2025 if the property is not brought into compliance by July 14, 2025.
Case CE252651 (4455 Devereaux Place) was continued to the July 15 hearing after a clerical error was identified while preparing the case.
Magistrate Matthew Hargraves handled the orders after receiving sworn testimony from city code enforcement officers. The city relied on Florida Statute Chapter 162 when requesting fines to commence. Officers were instructed to continue inspections and report compliance status at the subsequent hearing dates.
