Tavares proclaims Nov. 4, 2025 municipal election; qualifying period set for Aug. 1Aug. 15

The Tavares City Council approved a proclamation setting the municipality's general election for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, to elect two nonpartisan at-large council members to serve two-year terms for seats 2 and 4 (20252027).

Under the proclamation, nominations for each seat must be by petition signed by at least 25 qualified electors of the City of Tavares and must name the individual and the specific council seat sought; a candidate may qualify for only one seat. The qualifying period and filing instructions listed in the proclamation specify that petitions and other required election documents must be filed with the city clerk during the qualifying period beginning Aug. 1, 2025, at 12:00 noon and ending Aug. 15, 2025, at 12:00 noon. If Aug. 15 falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next business day at 12:00 noon. Election packets are available from the city clerk at Tavares City Hall, 201 East Main Street, during hours published in the proclamation.

The proclamation lists polling locations for the City of Tavares as the Tavares Civic Center (Precinct 360), various community activity centers and clubhouses (Precincts 340, 345, 350, 365, 370) and reminds voters they must be registered with the Lake County Supervisor of Elections on or before Oct. 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. A councilmember moved and the council approved the proclamation by acclamation.

Staff indicated the proclamation and candidate packets are in the council packet; council discussion did not change the filing dates or petition requirements.
