Stilson Transit Center update: Beckley Parkway open; parking enlarged and vertical construction underway

Heather Overholser, director of public works for Teton County, and project staff reported progress on the Stilson Transit Center construction during the July 21 meeting. The new Beckley Parkway opened to the public on July 9, which staff said expanded available parking from about 50–75 spaces to approximately 300.
Work now focuses on installing utilities, storm drainage and light poles in the new parking area and realigning the busy pathway that runs through the tunnel toward Teton Village. Staff said the existing pathway will remain open while crews shift the new path to the west, then close and restore the old path when the new alignment is complete. Staff estimated the new pathway would be finished in the coming weeks and that the new parking area will be paved in September to ensure availability for the winter ski season.
Staff also reported the start of vertical construction: footings have been poured and concrete walls were underway the week of the meeting. Excavation for the new bike storage area is complete, and staff said the plan is to have all buildings open and operational “by June.” Overholser asked the commission to consider an amendment to the long‑term maintenance agreement with the Mountain Resort to add stormwater‑pond maintenance; she said that maintenance work will likely go out to bid for landscaping, irrigation and ongoing pond upkeep. Overholser said most clearing and grubbing will be revegetated at a 2:1 ratio.
Overholser said the county’s agreement assigns winter maintenance through the mountain resort (which contracts TVA) and places summer maintenance duties with Teton County Road and Levee; under the current cost‑share, the county’s share was described as 29 percent for winter maintenance with the mountain resort responsible for the remaining share.
