Harrison County commissioners authorize letters supporting Restore Act and other grant requests

Harrison County commissioners voted to add a letter of support to a Restore Act application for the county fairgrounds and to authorize letters backing grant applications for the coliseum, the meeting transcript shows.

County staff asked the board to retroactively attach a letter of support to file No. 25-1277, identified in the transcript as a Restore Act application for the fairgrounds, saying, “On Monday, you approved, file number 25Dash1277, which was to file a make a restore act application for the fairgrounds. And, in the discussion was to add as an attachment this, letter of support from the board, and we did not get we forgot to do a motion on that.” A motion to add the letter was made, seconded and carried.

Separately, the transcript records that the sheriff’s department had requested a similar letter and that one had been signed earlier: “I signed that letter for the sheriff's department. It's it's done. They should have it.”

Commissioners also approved a motion to provide a letter of support for the coliseum if requested for grant applications. A board member moved “to do a letter of support for the coliseum asking for any grants,” the motion was seconded and the chair called the vote; the meeting record states the motion carried.
