Mendocino County commission approves new retirement-accountant classification and updates account-specialist series

Delzel told the commission the retirement accountant will support the retirement financial investment officer, the board of retirement and other county departments to improve compliance and transparency of retirement financial data. Robert Revelis, identified in the record as the retirement financial investment officer, participated online and was made available to answer questions.
The commission voted on the retirement-accountant classification after a motion was made and seconded; a roll call recorded votes of Commissioner Ebion, Commissioner Rose, Commissioner Slater and Commissioner Whitaker as in the affirmative. The clerk announced the motion carried unanimously.
Human Resources also presented a comprehensive update to the Account Specialist classification series (Account Specialist I, II, III and Supervisor). Delzel said the series had been revised because it was outdated. A motion to approve the series updates was moved and seconded and carried unanimously on roll call.
Assistant Human Resources Director Denise Bartleme reported a separate human-resources update during the meeting: 112 county employees were recognized for service ranging from one to 30 years at the Board of Supervisors’ June 24 meeting, and merit increases awarded from April through June included three single-step increases and two two-step increases. No additional budget or implementation details for the classification changes were provided in the public record.
