The Tivoli Board of Trustees at its July meeting approved the June 18 minutes, accepted the treasurer’s monthly report and authorized payment of bills totaling $81,718.58, the board said.
Trustees said the large monthly total reflects an insurance payment. The treasurer’s report and payment motion were moved and seconded during the meeting; trustees recorded aye votes and the bills were ordered paid.
Other routine business: the building and zoning department reported summer activity, including 13 building permits reviewed, 10 building permits issued, two complaints investigated and nine inspections; there were no fire inspections recorded for the month. The village court reported $1,045 remitted to the state controller for the month (breakdown: $605 fines, $335 surcharges, $105 civil fees). The police report for June recorded 15 incidents and 12 uniform traffic tickets; no arrests or parking tickets were reported in the transcript.
Community announcements and events: trustees and staff promoted a community potluck in the park this Friday (under the pavilion), summer programs including a day camp with 35 registered campers (five spots remaining as of the meeting), the Village Vanguard map of yard sales, and the annual Tivoli Day on Aug. 2 from 3 to 9 p.m. featuring games, a pie contest, live music and a photo at 5 p.m. The American Legion barbecue and a Firehouse fundraiser at the Container House were also announced.
Public comment: resident Susie Morris proposed hosting an outdoor community movie night to bring different parts of the village together. Morris discussed possible locations (park, west side of the firehouse or library), licensing costs for a film (she cited roughly $200), volunteer fundraising and rain dates. Trustees and staff responded that they would check permit requirements (mass-gathering permits are required for 100+ people) and run the idea by the village attorney and the library.
Calendar: the board said the next regular meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Watts De Pleister Hall, 86 Broadway, Tivoli. A workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 13 and Aug. 20.
