Parks staff gave a series of maintenance updates at the July 16 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
At Roberts Mill Park, crews completed a new paved pathway from the pond trail up to the dog park and through the small corral entrance. Staff said they plan to install additional riprap at the pond's southeast side when water levels drop.
The fountain at the pond has a new motor installed but the contractor is awaiting a splicer before scheduling the final connection; staff said the new motor will be enclosed in a protective cage and that operational changes (turning the fountain off for a few hours nightly) are planned to reduce algae and protect the motor.
The basketball court at Roberts Mill Park was relined by a local contractor. Public Works spread fresh playground mulch across town parks. Staff also reported that gutters on the storage building at Roberts Mill Park will be replaced on Monday the 28th.
Finally, staff said the new pollinator meadow at Bollinger Park is filling in and beginning to establish, though deer continue to graze some plantings at dusk and dawn.
Board members thanked Public Works for completing several items over the summer; no further action was requested.
