The Lakewood Planning Commission voted unanimously on July 16, 2025, to adopt technical edits to the city's comprehensive plan intended to make Envision Lakewood 2040 consistent with the previously adopted Lakewood Bicycle Plan. The vote approved revisions to Strategies 142 and 144.
Roger Wodnall, Comprehensive Planning Manager, told commissioners the edits are narrowly focused: they correct language inconsistencies between the two adopted plans so both documents direct the same approach to bicycle transportation. Christy Ivanoff (planning staff) was available for questions and staff recommended the edits as technical clarifications rather than policy changes.
Commissioners asked no substantive policy questions. Commissioner Buckley said the edits were "straightforward" and stressed the value of consistency among planning documents; commissioners also complimented staff on the Bicycle Plan's outreach and implementation emphasis.
There was no public opposition. One person had signed up to speak but indicated their comment applied to the next agenda item. A roll-call vote recorded five ayes, zero nays, approving the edits as presented. The staff report and changes will be incorporated into the comprehensive plan record.
