The Santa Barbara City Airport Commission on July 10 approved multiple consent items, including measures to consolidate leased spaces for Above All Aviation, and recorded one abstention on a separate consent item due to a conflict of interest.
Chair Cher Glaser asked the commission to vote on consent items 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 together. A motion to approve those items was moved and seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting record shows the commission voted in favor and the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
During discussion, one commissioner said the consent memo for the Above All Aviation item lacked customary details, such as dollar amounts, square footage and term lengths. Greg from the properties division said the action consolidates the tenant's leased spaces and aligns their lease terms so all leases share a single term; he said it would result in a reduction in space but did not provide a square-foot figure during the meeting. He said the item was processed by John Feldhans.
Separately, Chair Glaser asked that item 11 be considered individually because she had a conflict of interest. The commission moved and seconded approval of item 11; the chair announced the vote in favor and then stated, "I will abstain." The record shows item 11 passed with one abstention.
No dollar amounts, square-foot figures or additional contract terms for the Above All Aviation consolidation were provided in the commission memo during the meeting.
What the votes covered: The materials on the dais identified those items as consent calendar items; specific descriptions reflected lease consolidations and standard administrative approvals. Staff described the Above All Aviation action as consolidating lease spaces and terms rather than changing rent amounts.
Why it matters: Consolidating lease terms can simplify administration and future planning for a tenant and the airport. The abstention on item 11 was recorded after a disclosed conflict of interest by the chair and did not change the outcome of the vote.
Meeting closure: After the votes the chair adjourned the meeting at about 6:14:49 p.m.
