The IndiGo Board approved an additional design fee and related work for the 1501 trench drain replacement project, authorizing staff to execute a task order with HDR Engineering for an amount not to exceed $23,060.
Andrea Hermer, Senior Director of Capital Facilities, said excavation on the first drain revealed the fuel line was higher than expected, requiring a redesign to make the new trench shallower and wider and avoid relocating underground fuel infrastructure. HDR was the designer of record and Hermer acknowledged the firm’s on-site project manager, Erica Miller, who was present at the meeting.
During the financial report, Chief Financial Officer Bart Brown clarified the board had approved the additional engineering request and a separate unbudgeted item of $10,060 for environmental services to characterize waste encountered during excavation. Brown said the environmental consultant was on site to ensure proper waste characterization and handling; staff reported there were no identified problems but additional process steps were required.
The board approved the authorization by voice vote. Staff said available funds within the capital program will cover the additional cost and the work will allow the project to proceed without moving the fuel line.
