A Bay County special magistrate on July 17 accepted code enforcement’s recommendation to recover $825 in abatement costs for cleanup performed at 8813 Freemont Avenue and ordered the costs and any incidental enforcement fees recorded as a lien in Bay County public records.
Tim Justice, senior investigator for Bay County Code Enforcement, testified that the property had been found in violation at earlier hearings for overgrowth, junk and derelict items. Justice said the county contracted with a company to clean the property at a cost of $825 and that an inspection on May 14 found the property in compliance. Notices had been mailed and posted; some certified mailings were returned as vacant.
Magistrate Tiffany Sotto accepted the code enforcement recommendation that the property be found in compliance with the cited violations as of May 14 and that the $825 abatement cost, plus statutory interest, be recorded as a lien against the property. The magistrate also noted that previously assessed fines from the earlier hearing remain in effect.
