The Portland Public Art Committee on a remote meeting reappointed Anna Burke as chair and approved the committee minutes from May, members said.
Burke self-nominated for chair; the committee moved and seconded the slate of officers and approved the appointments by a show-of-hands vote. The committee also voted to accept the minutes from the May meeting.
The leadership decision matters because the committee will carry the finalized annual report and proposed budget to City Council this late summer. Sean (city staff) told the committee he plans to share a final draft with the planning director and bring it to City Council on an upcoming agenda, likely in August or, if the council agenda fills, in September. Burke agreed to attend the council meeting to answer questions.
Members praised Burke’s approach during the nomination. “I think that you are always, keen to understand what each of our subcommittees is working on,” Kat Segheria said during the meeting, citing Burke’s attention to detail and punctuality.
Sean said the draft annual report and proposed budget will be circulated to the committee ahead of the August meeting so members can prepare for the council presentation. No further formal action was taken on the annual report at the meeting.
The committee adjourned after routine business and brief project updates.
