Lake County officials outline ideas for Community Development Block Grant competitive application

County staff told the Board of Supervisors on July 15 that the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s (HCD) Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program had not yet been issued and is expected in August, and asked the board for guidance on projects the county should pursue.
The presentation, led by Deputy County Administrative Officer Ben Rickleman and Jeff Lucas of Community Development Services, described CDBG as federal funds channeled through the state and distributed competitively for projects that principally benefit low- and moderate-income residents. Rickleman said the county had $300,000 previously approved for a workforce BUILD program and that the state’s rules can change year-to-year.
