UN to host informal Cyprus talks with leaders and guarantor powers; media opportunities planned

The United Nations said it will host an informal meeting on Cyprus at U.N. headquarters with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders and representatives of guarantor powers Greece, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
The U.N. spokesperson said the informal meeting follows a broader-format meeting held in Geneva in March and will begin with a welcome dinner at U.N. headquarters. Tomorrow's schedule includes bilateral meetings with the secretary-general, a plenary meeting, a working lunch and a concluding afternoon session. The spokesperson said media opportunities, including a photo opportunity this evening and additional opportunities tomorrow, will be outlined in a media alert.
When asked whether there would be an outcome document, the spokesperson said: "If there is, there would need to be an outcome for it to have a document" and advised waiting to see what develops at the meeting.
The U.N. said the secretary-general will also hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegation during the course of the event.
