The Richland County Board on July approved HealthDirect to provide pharmacy services to Pine Valley Community Village.
Britney, representing Pine Valley, presented the procurement background and said the county narrowed vendor options to Guardian and HealthDirect, with HealthDirect showing lower overall cost across pricing columns. She said HealthDirect also supplies medication packaging, med cards, consulting services and can support IV certifications and education — services Pine Valley had not been receiving from the current pharmacy.
Officials noted that a local pharmacy would remain listed as a backup. Pine Valley staff described contingency planning for deliveries in bad weather and noted that the facility already maintains an on-site backup inventory of several hundred medications and IV supplies.
The board approved Resolution 25-52 by voice vote. No roll-call tally was requested in the meeting transcript.
Ending: Pine Valley will transition to HealthDirect with the county and facility staff handling contract execution and confirming delivery/backup procedures.
